Exclamation FX-R Lens Swap Question

I am contemplating swapping my fresnel lens to a FX-r lens from TRS. I am not planning on doing the color modding as I don't feel like playing with the shield and I already have 6000k Ultinons. Are the FX-r a drop in replacement for our lenses or will I need to do anything else to get the sharp cut-off?

You will need to play with the color shield for the sharp cut off. Just switching the lense wont do it.

That sucks, I was under the impression that the clear lens would make it more crisp just not bring out the blue above the cutoff, what is the purpose of the clear lens if you aren't getting a sharp cut-off from it?

Imagine having glasses made for you but you put it too far from your eyes. even when the glass is clear you need to be within focus range. there are few ways to do it, either spacing out the lens with spacers or bring the lens closer by way of sanding down the projector face. Since either one of those isn't terribly easy, messing with the shield seems now a far easier alternative.

Is the fx-r not the same focal length as the stock lens? I guess I'll have to try, I had valeo lights for my Audi S4 and they came with the clear lens and the cutoff looked brilliant and I want that look again. Ivory, I've seen your diy on shield modding I just don't know if I will mess something up I don't have a computer power supply to hook it up to test my results, is their an easier way to test it?

Has anyone done this without using a computer power supply in order to adjust the shield outside of the car?

when you have the headlights apart but projectors mounted, mount them on the car first and adjust it to your liking using the car's battery.

Why not tsx lenses ? Doesnt require spacing like the fxr . Still wont be a good as modding the shield but better no mod replacment then fxr . A computer power supply only costs a couple bucks . Get the old style with switch and run a incandecent bulb off the 5v rail for load .
