06-07 Trunk Release button on 03-05

I tried searching for this, but I didn't find any complete answers.

Has anyone successfully wired the trunk button on 06-07 taillights (either JDM or USDM) to work on 03-05 coupes?

If someone has, my concern is: will the trunk button stop working when the car is locked?

Thanks!

Good questions. I wish I could help. I was thinking about trying it too, but didn't want someone to be able to access the trunk while I'm at the mall or something. I read that some people have don it but they didn't post a DIY.

On your cars, if you press the trunk button on the dash with the door locked and the key off, will the trunk open? If so, tie it into the output side of that switch. On the '06, when you press the button on the tail light, it grounds out the output. Verify the output on the dash switch is grounded out when pressed, tie them together and voila! This is assuming when you press the trunk release button with the doors locked it does not open the trunk.

This is just an idea I had off the top of my head, please do some testing and research before rewiring your car. I am not responsibe if it explodes ;-)

If the output from the dash switch is 12v, you could employ a relay to make it work with the trunk switch.

Cheers,

Chad
