HID out, more than likely ballast

So today i had the wonderful opportunity of replacing my driver side light since it flickered out. new bulb was a no go but i put that same one in the passengers and it worked so i knew it wasnt the bulb. Checked the fuse near the battery and everything was good. looked further into it on here and heard the ballast may be bad, perhaps water leaked into it?

finally got to the ballast. opened it up and it was covered in acid and rusty so looks like water at some point. Im assuming this is the problem but has anyone ran into anything else? faulty wiring? getting to this is the biggest PITA so really dont want to do it again. have seen some ballasts on ebay for 80 bucks or so but seeing where other members have bought theirs from

thoughts?

I had the same problem. I took the ballast apart and cleaned it with alcohol and blow dryed it, the next day it worked fine

yeah, i used battery cleaner to dissolve the acid praying it would work.......that might have been too powerful and i may have ruined it, not sure. but thats how i cleaned it then blow dried it too, nothing. ill see if anything happens in the coming day or so but looks like ill have to get a new one. with that said, if anyone has bought one somewhere reliable let me know. i dont feel like dealing with this again haha. to get to these lights is a b****

theres a couple thousand that show up on ebay and i'm not sure what i'd do with them....have to splice the wires? reliable?

theres also this which seems the best....used but in working order:

the first one is aftermarket and plug and play since they provide the correct adapters. but id go oem first if not possible then settle for the aftermarket
