Headlight Bulb Question
Headlight Bulb Question
Hey guys, I am new to the forum here. I had a question about my headlights. I just bought a 2007 G35 Sedan. But from what I can tell is that the previous owner changed the right bulb to probably an aftermarket bulb because I can see it looks a bit bluer than the stock one. The problem I am having is that the bulb that is on the right keeps going off when im driving. But all I have to do is turn off the lights and then turn them on and it comes back on. I was just wondering if anyone has had this issue and if anyone can recommend if i should replace the bulb only or replace the ballast? Any ideas? Also is it hard to replace the balast? I called a dealer and they want 250 to replace the ballast, lol. I would really appreciate any input. Thanks guys.
I would first switch the bulbs from one side to another to see if the problem still exists on the right side or if it moves to the left with the bulb swap. then you will know for sure if its just a new bulb thats need or something more. Generally you do not need to replace a ballast just because your replacing a bulb.
dealer wanted $250? that's an amazing deal to replace a ballast.... wonder if they know what they are talking about, because the HID unit alone is over 400$ retail... I agree with Bow.... you shouldn't need to replace the ballast because the bulb is having an issue, but definitely swap them to see if the issue is on either side.... if it is, then likely it's the bulb not the ballast
