CCFL strips for DRL on 06 projectors

I was thinking about putting CCFL strips (not LEDs) on the 06 projectors where the clearance strips used to be on the 03-05 headlights to serve as DRLs. Has anyone done this before? I'd be very interested to see pictures or see how they did it. Any opinions on the idea? Doable, or should I save my time and money?

Anything is possible. But I cant think of anyone who has ever done it in an 06 light. It would require alot of custom work. CCFLs are not flexible so it could not be put into an 06. The 04s have a flat metal holder under the clearance strip that the CCFL is mounted in. Plus has a plastic lens to distribute the light.

Your best bet is to get a set of 04 lights, then add a CCFL clearance strip and retrofit in projectors. Or trim your 06 lights and add a custom plastic strip and LED light.

Example of how 06 light can be trimmed and led strip added. This is as close as you could ever get.

Here is an 04 light with CCFL and retrofitted projectors.

He even added an amber city light at the top.
