Stick with Philips 6000k (Ultinons) or Osram 5400k if you must go with color.

Your stock 4100k HID will turn to this color eventually as it get's older.

Actually that is not true that is a myth. LOL myth but yea anyways they will not turn that color as they get older.

It all about the kelvin scale. If you look at the color of each certain K (Kelvin) you will see that its a different shade of color.

As far as i know. PIAA bulbs are very good. But what ever bulb you get make sure its D2R and its not a cheap korean brand bulb because they will burn fast.

Ive always thought that 8000k's are too blue; to the point where they dont really look like hids anymore. Either way they are nice, but in terms of visualization, they are probably really dim. Thats why i got the philips 6000k ultinons

When the Xenon substances inside the HID capsule age, their chemical body starts to change. As it ages, the bulbs dim the moment you begin using them. Our eyes will not pick up this immediately, it's a very gradual change. During this period, the by-product of this change (age) is chemical formation.
This is why I say just use your stock HID. If you purchase a 6000k+ bulb, you are not "upgrading". The common myth is upgrading to a higher kelvin equals a brighter, better performing color.

The HID capsule will not turn from white to purple per se, but it will turn into a bluish shade. Which in turn, inside a headlamp housing reflector can appear deep shade purple.
When that happens, it's time to replace your HID bulb.

yeah, you can tell by the pics up top that the hotspot is reduced drastically, so it has to be scattered. It does look cool though.

I upgraded to 8000k bulbs this week and so far I love them. For the first time I noticed that the 4000k lights are actually decent, but still not great. I think 5-6000k bulbs are the best, however, I will stick with my 8000k because I drive on mostly well lit streets and could care less for performance.

Drawback of my bulbs from HIDking.com, the OEM bulbs have a black stripe around the lower portion of the bulb to help control the light beam, however the ones I bought (yes they are D2R) are missing this strip causing the light to be less aimed, however I did not lose beam pattern, just added to it, I am sure it bothers oncomming traffic, but 1/2 cars is an SUV so in my opinion, eff em.

It's not a surprise that the black strip is missing. Inferior quality bulbs don't have the same production values as with higher quality OEM capsules.

"but 1/2 cars is an SUV so in my opinion, eff em."

This is the same type of attitude that gives HID a bad name. Why the NHTSA and many other goverment regulatory companies give HID the "schtick" due to the thousands of complaints sent to them.
It's not just you, it's ricey blue halogen bulbs to blinding HID kits. It's easy to point the finger to HID since color plays a role on identification.
Gives them ammunition to put HID down and give them the edge to alter HID itself.

I know of plenty of the complaints as I use to be a member at the hidforums awhile ago. However, unless cops are pulling over the SUV owners with aftermarket HID's in crappy housings, I will keep my same attitude. Also, some SUV's (high end) are equipped with hids and still aimed poorly. I noticed the escalades and Lexus RX to be some of the most blinding, thats why I just don't worry and I enjoy my head lights. I've driven next to 3 cops this week and not 1 has pulled me over, so I am not worrying about it.

check out that site. for $150 bucks you can change stock HID bulbs from 4100K to 6000/8000/10000 and get a Xenon mathc bulbs upgrade to all yoru interior dome lights, licence plate, door lights, etc...

all for about $150 - doesnt seem to bad at all.. I think am going to purchase both... Im going to with 6000K- I had a hid kit in my last car- (2004 VW Passat) it was a 8000K kit- looked awesome , but the headlights were projector so the beam pattern was more fixed. I dont want a blue ground infront of my G. i think that looks dumb.
