I was cruising around Turnball Canyon last week at night, and boy I couldn't see a thing around corners. I've found the stock lighting system to be severely limited when it comes to mountain road driving at night. The angle of both the HID and fog lights are so narrow that when you take a tight corner pretty much you can't see where you're going.
It's alittle scary going into a hairpin and having to turn your steering wheel into a corner with near zero visibility.
The family SUV has accessory lights that come on when the steering angle exceed a certain degree. Newer vehicles also have the intelligent aiming system to help you see where you're going. The G35 headlights are receeded into the housing, to unless we retrofit the whole lighting unit (ie projector), I don't really see a way to fix this.
Anyone else have this problem?

Anyone else have this problem?I've taken the G snowboarding/skiing many times. Never had a problem coming down the winding mountain roads at night. My eyes are really photosensitive. Mimicking the Terminator: "I see everything." The only time I've run into trouble is when someone in oncoming traffic is too slow to turn off their high-beam. I'll be blinded for a couple of seconds and literally have to slow down to a crawl until I can regain my vision.

sukairain, I've noticed the narrow beam as well. mostly driving around parking lots or elsewhere that the sides of the front end need to be lit up and they aren't. I wonder if the front clear side markers could be replaced with an accessory light of some sort that projects light down and out from the front of the car

While the G35 HID Reflectors may be adequate enough for the typical night time driver, it's still not up to par with other headlamp assemblies. i.e.: Audi A4,S4, BMW, Acura, etc.
The g35 reflector is flawed to begin with. The reflector design sits too far back of the headlamp and the small circumference area reduces the light image on the road. There is a lot of dead glare and hots spots on the beam pattern. This is all due to the reflector design which is poor in my book. I have been around all kinds of HID so I have seen the best and the worst.
A fix for all this is simple going for a projector design. The smooth, wide, colorful, sharp beam pattern from a HID D2S projector outweighs the D2R reflector design.
Later when my vehicle becomes old or get a hold of new G35 headlamp assemblies, I am going to attempt a HID projector retrofit.
