My factory headlights was in rough shape so I sanded and wet sanded it down until I was happy with the results. I'm thinking about doing a light tint (smoke tint)
Anyone have their G tinted? Would it be worth doing it?
Looks like they had some kind of protectant sprayed on the headlights that didn't hold up well to age?
In the first pic I still see a LOT of sanding marks, go over it again with a higher grit sandpaper (400 then 800 is the kit I usually use, followed by a 2000 grit to finish), make sure to wet sand even if doing it by hand. That will remove all the sanding marks.
Ideally you would use a drill with a sandpaper attachment, even a cheapo Ryobi viable speed drill would be fine for this kind of work. Heck a Harbor Freight drill would be fine for light duty work like polishing headlights. Then follow up with a 2k clear coat like the SprayMax.
As for the headlight tint, personally I've never been a fan since it's a huge ticket-getter where I live and not even the LEM license plate will save you from that one. I think it looks cool on lighter colored cars including your red but reducing the functionality of nighttime visibility is a major turnoff for me since mine is a predominantly street/highway car.
