My own termonology: theres the headlight, the bumper light, the turn signal, and the parking light. "You say tomato, I so tomato." (did you notice that whole saying loses its effect when its only written out? haha

the strip you're referring to is called the "clearance light", as S-Tuned mentioned, which i think is how the service manual refers to it...
changing the bulb requires that your remove the inner fender liner in the wheel well to get at the headlights from the back.
some people have done this with the wheels still on, but it's easier if you take it off. then, you simply undo 2 screws and about 10 of those little Nissan clips, and pull down the black fender liner.
after that, you'll see the clearance lamp at the top of the headlight housing... turn it a quarter turn and it pops right out.
i would recommed that if you're planning to swap in different foglights later on, it's better to do it all at once since it's kinda a PITA to get in there.
