Re: HID conversion

would converting my stock halogen system pose problems w/ "bouncing" since the halogen lighting system won't have come w/ a leveler to help w/ this problem? are there way to convert my system so as to make it pretty much identical to a stock HID system for the G? i don't want to have there problems when i finally convert.

Re: HID conversion

would it be better to just get super whites for the fog lamp/high beam and HID for the low beams as not to lose either the fog lamp or high beam functionality and still keep the flash to pass option as well, while still getting the consistency when converting to HID's?

Re: HID conversion

Use the philips Balasts with the Philips bulbs. Many manufacturers use the Philips balast but with a cheaper Taiwanese bulb to bring down cost. The Philips bulbs are a little more money but are better particularly the Ultinon 6000K which is the best 6000K bulb on the market. Those are the ones I want to do group buy on but not sure how to go about it.

Re: HID conversion

eurospeedperformance.com has the phillips 6000K ultinons for $550. if you do a group buy, they'll lower the price.

southwest autoworks has the 6000K ultinons series II VX for nearly $450.

Anyone find these for less than this? From all the research i've done, the only manufacturers I would trust are phillips and osram, but only if the kits are entirely single brand. no combinations and no asian kits.

any opinions?

Re: HID conversion

is the housing totally different between what you get when u have HID's stock and if you had stock halogens?

i was told that the HID bulbs are more oblonge, and the H1 bulbs are thin, so the HID bulbs might not slide into the housing cuz they might be too big. i kno u can file it down, but it just seems kind of crude to me. does anyone know what kind of wiring infiniti used for their lighting system? i want to make sure I don't have to do any wire stripping.. i really just want to be able to plug and play.. thanks

Re: HID conversion

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I have standard Xenon low-beams, and recently installed Xenon's for my high beams for my 350Z. So maybe i can help out.

First off, you won't be able to find a 'kit' which comes with the automatic leveler. This is stricly a manufactor item. This DOES NOT act as a suspension for your headlights. iIt merely adjust the beam level due to wieght in the back of the car. You will not get a "bouncy" headlight if you switch to xenons. If you really wanted this system, you could find a damaged G35 that has this and put it on your car. So, your left with just replacing the standard halogens with a 'plug-in-play kit'. You can find these kits anywhere on the internet. I paid $500 for mine from Hids4less.com. As someone has said, phillips would be the brand to get. More companies use their bulbs and ballasts than others.

Because Xenon bulbs come in either D2R or D2, it would be impossible to directly replcae the halogen with a Xenon. So, what these 'plug-in-play' kits do is they take a D2R bulb, and make the base an H7. That way it will fit snuggly.

When installing the kits, you don't have to stirp any wires. All you really need to do is mount the ballast somewhere, and connect some of the wires to the battery and old light harness.

Becareful when you get the 6000k or 8000K bulbs. 'K' refers to Kelvin. The higher the Kelvin, the more blueish/ purpleish the beam is. If you want an OEM look, go with a 4000K-4300K bulb which will produce a white light. here is a nightime pic of my Highs. Hope this helps!

Re: HID conversion

hm.. that's good to know. thanks!

does anyone know the size differences between the H1 bulbs and the d2r or d2s? i heard the d2's have kind of a bulge so sometimes don't fit in the H1 housing, unless you file down the sides.
