are you talking about upgrading the highbeam to 6000k hid kit? theres no need unless you drive with your highbeams on all the time. but if you must then yes, go with the HID kit and make it match to your lows, will turn out nice. or if you have the time/money get some projectors.

stock 4100k - slight yellow
phillip 6000k - slight purple
other 8000k - pull me over blue

Back to your original question. If I were you, I'll get the 6000k in the stock HID location. Unless you are in Japan or Canada, you cannot turn on the fog independently of the headlight. Imagine if you have 4000k lowbeam and 6000k fog..... it'll end up looking kind of funky.

Besides, 6000k HID bulbs ~$250, 6000k HID adaptor kit for fog ~$500+

Another option, is that Philips does make 5000K D2R and D2S bulbs. They'll be a bit more white then the 4100K ones, and the lumens is still about 3100, compared to 3200. Once you hit 6000K, you're down to 2400-2700 lumens.

you got the color mixed up. 6000 is slightly blueish, 8000 is BLUE, 10000 is violet/purple

supman, do a search for one of my threads. I posted pictures of my dual HID mod 6000k fogs and low beams.
