By direct replacement he means its a drop in bulb, the change is that the new bulbs are 6000K while stock ones are 4300K

if you want the light to look purple, you should get the piaa 6600k bulb. it does cost a little bit more bu they look great. i have it now and i know two other Gs have it too. when you look at what it is reflecting on to, it looks purple but when you look at your headlight housing, it looks white.

If you're looking for purple with out retrofitting a projector you'll need 10K-12K bulbs. Keep in mind that the output of these bulbs is no where near that of the stock or even 6000k Bulbs. If you're OK with that, then that is your best bet.

Dammit... this thread has just inspired me to spend some money... originally was looking at 6k HIDs for the fog lights / high beams and new 6k bulbs for the low beams. But it has eventually evolved into a bigger project...

Anybody know where I can get some clean looking projector bezels? HIDPlanet is out of the nice ones...

Dofu,
Good choice on the projector retro. I don't care what people say 8k and 12k bulbs will NEVER look as nice as a color modded 4300K projector. You get the best of both worlds going this way. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

OK, can anyone tell me what bulb I need if I just want more illumination? I just put on some Sylvania Silverstars for my fog and although they help a little, not enough. I just want things to be brigher out front, I don't want to just get color. Can anyone recommend something? Thanks.

You could convert your fogs to HID, but that takes a lot of work and $$$ to do it properly. I can't see why your stock HID's aren't bright enough?

Have you seen other HID lights compared to other HID systems? Our lights are pretty weak. I know they're brighter than halogens but not as bright as other HID's. I just want to get more illumination out front. Any advice?
