Angel eyes LED vs CCFL.

Hey I'm thinking of starting an angel eyes project but have a few concerns. What do you guys think of this:

http://www.geocities.com/jvxdriver/eagle_eyes.htm

I heard that using LED lights in the headlight casing would cause the LED's to fail after a short while due to the heat from the headlight bulbs. Is this true? If so, is there any way to do this using CCFL lights or are there such LED's that are more heat resistant? Do CCFL's only come in tubes or can I get ones that look like LED's so that I can use them instead of the LED's? Any ideas? Thx!

I am not a big fan of angel eyes on any non-BMW car. However, I can appreciate the work in custom jobs such as that LED angel eye CRX. He uses a CELIS setup which uses optical piping to distribute light from two LEDs. I think he could make the setup work a little better if he used higher powered LEDs (Luxeon Star 5, Hi Flux).

However, to get this to look right it will take a lot of work. I would save time and frustration and just go for the pre-made CCFL rings that aacstyle makes.

Yea but then I'll have to pay $200+ for it. And anyway I would rather create some custom halo ring quite like the one in the image below but maybe a bit brighter. I quite like them. I dont think time and frustration is an issue for me. I'm a programmer so I'm used to frustrating challenges. Does aacstyle sell the halo rings seperately? And say I did go for the aacstyle kit does it come with the actual internal casing? Thx!
