Is it possible to leave the fog light on as daytime running light without turning on the HID?

Yea G35's in US don't have daytime running light. You can definitely turn them on into daytime running lights but the time and money it'll cost you might not be worth it. It'd be easier to install a seperate bulb in the housing.

Yes it is, look at your blinker fob, the inner most turning one, give it a turn-- it will turn on just fogs

the relay is located at the IPDM.. rewire the trigger wire to the acc power and you have Daytime lights.. but then you can't turn it off unless you turn off your car and your switch will be useless

Thinking out loud:

Get another relay that is always on, and switches off when power is applied.
Then connect this relay to the existing switch, and connect the relay to ACC power on one side, and the foglight relay on the other.

This all depends on how the switch funtions, which I'm not sure. I'm not sure if it applies signal to the harness independently of the headlight switch or not. I think it does, because I looked at the service manual diagnostics, and it says to turn all the switches off, and to turn each one on individually while testing the signal at the harness. The ECU then translates all this stuff, before sending the signal to the headlight harness.

A lot more effort than it's worth in my opinion....

I have the opposite problem...I want my fog lights to be functionally controlled by the switch on the steering whell arm as they currently ALWAYS run as my Daytime Runners... the CANADIAN "G" uses a different setup than the US version in terms of the power supply set up to the fog lights... However, I know it can be changed since my car originally was from the US and had this transfer done to it during a safety inspection upon registering the car... I want it back to the way it used to be (US mode) but I dont know how to change it myself!? I have the schematics too...If someone figures it out...PM me...
Thanks...

Maybe they can program the ECU for this.

The Canadian DRL system uses the High beams, not the fogs.
Programming of the ECU is not possible.

There is a DRL relay that makes a series connection through R & L high beam.
This reduces output of the lights.

How hard will it be for us to change the US version like the Canada version? Is there a DIY?

If you have the service manual, the DRL cct is in there.
