In my VW Passat, to disable the daytime running light all you needed to do was remove a relay, whch was located near the main fuse box. Perhaps this is all they do... Adding a basic relay for the CA versions but not the US would be the cheapest way for Infiniti to do it...

I bet there's a socket somewhere on this car for a relay that will enable the daytime running lights... Unless of course it can be programmed in the ECU. That'd be the cheapest way.

Actually, it is a little too simple. That would light the HID low beams constantly - not great for the life of the bulbs. You're only using DRL's to make your car more visible to others, it doesn't need to be HID quality light. I have a Canadian '05 sedan, and my daytime running lights use the halogen high beam elements (not the fog elements) at reduced output.

sure..
Infiniti Publications
You need to sign up for a 24hr membership.
Then you can download the manual in pdf format. (many files)

It's a real deal for $19, compared to hard copy

My Pontiac Grand Prix is the same way. There is a fuse and a DRL relay. Pulling the fuse, deactivates DRLs, but also deactivates the auto headlights. Pulling the relay deactivates the DRL only.

However, I think this guy's question was how to wire the DRL to the switch. Because simply pulling the relay, would be illegal in Canada, and you'd be easy to spot. Maybe he just wants to be able to flip em' off, when he's at a drive in movie or something.

Other way around - the original poster is in California. He wants to know how to make his US model work like the Canadian one.

you cant just turn on your fogs...your headlights must be on before you can turn on your fogs.

If I were to run DRL's, I'd want the turn signal light in the headlight assembly to function as the DRL. It's super bright and bulbs are cheaper.
