ok. so im htinkin of orderin a set of 06 tails cause i relaly like that circular ripple, looks more like the skyline. but what i want to do is take off the outer glass/plastic shell and tape off the two main circles and the white running light towards the middle. and paint everything black(match the car). so when u put the plastic back on and on the car, it will be black except the two "skyline" circles and the white running light. do the 06 tails just plug right into the 04 slots? and the clear plastic can come off for the painting right?

 

I think someone makes fiberglass overlays you can get for that look and you can paint them to match your black coupe. Top Secret comes to mind, I think is where I saw them.

I am not sure if the tails can be baked apart like the headlights though.
