Put 05-06' Gauge Cluster in my 03'

Does anyone know how to wire the 05/06' gauge clusters with the "HALO" amber rings into my 2003?

I heard that it's not as simple as "Plug n' Play". Is this true? Since the Tach and Speedometer are SWITCHED, I'm guessing that's what's causing the problems...?

If so:
Can we HARD WIRE it. It surely can be done, just don't know how...anyone???

Calling all experts!!!

g35rcr 05-16-2006 12:13 PM

talk to afropuff...

WhiteonWheat 05-16-2006 11:16 PM

I PM'd afropuff,,,

Anyone else know how this can be done.

I think I'm going to buy the 05-06' Cluster and then just wait until someone tells me what to do. lol

No really...

SuperShick 05-17-2006 01:18 AM

white, i'm interested as well because i feel our 03 is sooooooooooo boring. my gf was complaining how her civic's dash looks better than our G.....boooooooo

Psycraft 05-17-2006 01:22 AM

yeah please let me know about this! iwould love to upgrade mine to the 05 or 06

accordfreak 05-17-2006 01:28 AM

i'm surrpise no aftermarket companies made any "halo rings" for our gauges for that 3d effect the 05-06 has.

g35rcr 05-17-2006 08:15 AM

I remember it being a major hassle and costing more than it was worth when they first talked about it

SuperShick 05-17-2006 08:02 PM

man, so we're stuck with our boring @$$ gauges? gawd dammit....i came from a 2000 chevy blazer and my dash looks like i never changed cars at all. booooo.....

WhiteonWheat 05-21-2006 10:50 AM

I talked with a couple members and they said they "Have no Clue, where to even start with a project like this".

Here's the deal guys:

Even if the wiring is different from the old one to the new one. It's
1.) Still the same car. It's not like we're trying to put in a guage from a entirely different car.

2.) Once someone can figure out which wires are which -- we can "splice" them into an 03-04 car...

I'm willing to buy a 05-06 guage cluster and take it to some guys I know that can figure out ANYTHING. I'll see how much the cluster is and how much they are going to charge me. Once I find the answer, I'll share.

If anyone wants to help me with this project that has interst in doing this "MOD" themselfs, please help donate to the 'cause'. My Paypal is: pikapp221@yahoo.com

Trust me, I'm not going to take money and run. I'll put the money $5 here $10 there, towards the cost of these guys figuering the wiring out, then everyone can enjoy!

Thanks,
-WoW (WhiteonWheat)

P.s. This WILL happen!

accordfreak 05-21-2006 06:16 PM

should be interesting.. let us know if it works out. i'll find a 05-06 gauge for you.

All the guages are electronic anyways. They should all just connect to the CAN bus or something like that, shouldn't it?. I can't imagine why it shouldn't just plug in.

It's not like the new guages have different indicators than the old ones. It shouldn't matter that the tach and speedo switched sides. I don't think each component has it's own connector. Isn't there just one connector for the whole thing?

But I'm just ranting, so I have no idea.

connectors are completely different. You will have to rewire it.

Now, that's a entirely new ballgame my friend. The shape of the guage housing is totally different.

What's great about the 05-06' for us, is that the guage itself (*HOUSING*), is exactly the same, so it's of course a perfect fit.

It's the WIRING that we're going to have issues with.

That still kills me, how they would go as far as to re-wire the stupid thing? The headlights from what I hear are "PLUG-n-PLAY". So, why change the wiring for the new guage pod?

I do hear that they have a shift light and some other 'jazz' that our 2003/2004's do not have, so maybe that's the issue with an all new wiring schema?

SuperShick 06-19-2006 12:07 PM

do u have a 6mt or 5at WoW? i would hope u have a 6mt =)

SuperShick 07-03-2006 12:31 PM

any updates from anyone on this project?

IvoryGT 07-03-2006 02:05 PM

I dont see the reason anything would change except, the lighting on the new gauge might be drawing different current and you know the cluters are specific about its current to accurately show the current RPM and other little jiggies. Im just bsing but it is something to think about, rather than just figuring out the wires and snap them together.

SuperShick 08-02-2006 03:08 PM

anything new?

TURBOTOM 08-02-2006 05:39 PM

Why not just get the NISMO gauge.

Jeff92se 08-02-2006 05:42 PM

What do they look like?

There's another one for sale on Ebay.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll se the Nismo cluster her installed. Its ok, not any better than the 03 cluster IMO, other than the fact that its white.

Jeff92se 08-02-2006 06:03 PM

Thanks. IMHO it makes it look tons better. Even if the light is still orange. Kinda like what Nissan used to offer in the SE packages for the maxima and such.

Dakkerz 08-02-2006 06:06 PM

I like the fact that its white when its off, but it still looks the same when lit. Also the original poster wanted the 06 cluster because of the "HALO" amber rings, these are still flat. Regardless Nismo one still an improvement on our boring gauge cluster...... not sure its worth the price though.

wayy too expensive.. anybody who plans to buy shouldn't pay over 200 shipped

IMO nismo doesn't look good and it's white.

ModMe 08-02-2006 08:05 PM

The picture just generic guys. That ebay cluster is an 06 one meaning that it does have the light up feature. I know about this company selling parts. They buy cheap crashed cars and part them out. If they say its from an 06, then it should light up. If you guys are really serious about this project, 300 aint bad. A brand new one costs over 600.

yes cheaper than dealer but not cheaper than the average price.

Dakkerz 08-03-2006 11:07 AM

Ok back to the original question has anyone gotten the 06 gauges to work yet?

specknv350GT 08-03-2006 03:21 PM

i just put in the nismo cluster and it looks 1000x better than stock.

specknv350GT 08-04-2006 03:26 PM

o btw, the nismo cluster faces are not white, they are silver.

Excuse the dumb quesiton, but what does the nismo cluster look like? (pics) Is it electroluminescent?

specknv350GT 08-04-2006 04:29 PM

it looks like this, this is not my car, it is nates, I bought the cluster from him, just dont have pics in my car yet.

Dakkerz 08-04-2006 04:34 PM

Eh... that's ok looking, its still flat though. One of the main reasons the original poster was asking about the 06 cluster was because of the "HALOs". Same reason I was curious about this thread.

ttrank 08-04-2006 04:45 PM

Subscribing.

Hey guys,
No updated as of yet. I know it's been a while. I've been busy trying to get a passenger side replacement of an 06 headlight that I purchased. Long story...
Anyways, that has side tracked me some these past few months. Summer has come and looks to be on it's way out. Thank goodness.

Anyways, I'm going to start searching for wrecked G's around my area. Hopefully I can sang a 05-06 cluster for a quarter of what they cost brand new. If any of you can still help me out by being on the look out for some if they post on e-bay, please let me know! You can always buy it, (if it's not a crazy asking price) and I'm good on my word to buy it back off your hands!!!

Let the "hunting" begin...
