Updated 03-04 dash light project

Hey as some of you know a few of us on the boards have been altering our interior lights. after trial and error I am pretty much done and satisfied with the speedometer cluster. before the white i was using was too cold and the needles were too dim. this has been fixed. now all thats left is the a/c display and the bose display. enjoy!

Good work. I prefer the amber at night since it's easier on your eyes but it's personal preference.

Thanks for the comments guys. As for a writeup, it’s a very long process, but I can give you a quick one so you know roughly whats involved

Take apart interior of car and free speedometer
Sand interior surface of the speedometer face (its got an orange layer) without removing needles
Remove all bulbs from the speedometer unit
Squeeze two sanded down LEDs and a resistor into each original bulb housing
Aim the LEDs so that one points into the prism that refracts light to the needles
Create a diffuser to slip in behind the speedometer face to prevent hotspots from the LEDs
Put everything back together and pray nothing went wrong.

+1 on that point!!

What kind of diffuser are you using? I talked to Rever about some high-tech stuff he used. Is that the same thing you are using?

Great job, looks factory.
