Red face xenon / hid problem, please help ah

hey guys

basicly, i bought two new 2004 headlights for my o4 coupe... after my accident...... i put some after market 8000k d2r hid bulbs in.

i noticed that one of my bulbs (passenger side) doesnt turn on sometimes ..rarly.......so i need to turn my lights on and off to get it the light on....

i also noticed that my passenger side hid takes longer to fully illuminate then my drivers side one.

i am hoping this is just my bulbs going bad but what is the chaces of my ballast causing this problem?

could it be from the rainy weather here in newyork that may have hurt my balest

does this sound ore like a bulb issue or a ballast issue?

sounds like a ballast issue...try swapping bulbs from left to right and see if the bulb does the same thing on the driver side, if it does then its the bulb element, if not its the ballast

usually 8000 K bulbs are low quality and are prone to failure and/or short life. stick with OEM brands Philips/Osram etc..which means nothing above 6000K. 8000K has very low output (lumens) anyway. chances are, if you are using OEM g35 ballasts, the problem lies in your cheap bulbs, OEM ballast failure is not as common

ok here an update:

basicly both headlights work however when they turn on my left hid is superbright right away wheras my right hid takes a little longer (10 seconds) to fully iluminate..

after 10 seconds both hid look identicle..

is this my ballast or my hid,.,,,

What did you buy? Anything above 6000k is crap, most likely cheap bulbs are the cause.
