Driving Impressions Tanabe NF210 Springs

Hi Everyone,

For those that are looking at lowering springs for their vehicle, I got a chance to swap the springs on our M45 showcar and go for a spin on Tanabe's NF210 springs.

Background:
Our M45 is a Kenstyle demo car with a full Kenstyle kit, Kenstyle exhaust, Work LS1 wheels, and JDM Espelir springs. We are located ~5 miles away from Tanabe and I have been curious as to the quality of their springs for this vehicle since I heard they first came out.

Thanks to the staff at Tanabe they allowed us to install the springs for a day and drive around.

Impressions:
I must say the springs feel softer then the espelir's, which is expected since the espelir rates are 7k/11k and the tanabe are 6.5k/8.8k. They did feel good though and I think would have honestly been a better comparison if I were comparing stock to modified as opposed to modified to modified. The ride was smooth and firm though and I didn't feel anything negative that would concern me.

Overall:
For the M45 these springs retail for $330.00
For the M35 these springs retail for $290.00
I have always felt Tanabe's quality has been better then anything Tein puts onto the market and driving on these only further makes me feel this way.

How do these compare to like the Tein Flex coilover setup for the M? I was set on the Flex coilovers until i read this thread.

Overall the Tein Flex is a great setup as it is also a full coilover setup, not just the spring. But even with this information, it doesn't mean you can't swap out just the spring to get a better spring rate. This is very common with Swift springs as they are swapped into Tein packages as well as other high end suspension packages. Overall suspension comes down to the end user and your comfort level. Usually the more VIP a car the greater comfort level they will build coilover setups to keep you close to OEM ride quality. Thanks.
