I like both. The 550 is more exspensive but it's faster than the M45. 360 Horsepower. I'd take either, although i prefer the interior and exterior styling on the M.

I haven't compared my sport steering to the non sport, but mine yields a lot of feedback and is quite nimble for a 4k lb. ride.

Have you driven the 545/550 with Sport Package? If so I'd be interested in your impressions.

I agree that iDrive is a huge mistake, and the BMW interior in general could be sportier and use fewer hard plastics. But I'm in awe of the steering and suspension.

After test driving the 550i over the weekend I can't really justify where are the extra 12k went on the 550i be side the new engine and the 'BMW' name.

I've not driven one......wasn't on my list of possible buys.
I don't doubt it's a great ride, but too much $$$ for my tastes.

I test drove the 530i with sport pakage, but ended up with M35 Sport.
ture 6speed trani is better for smoother accel and gas miliage. but my past experience with BMW's problems, and POS I-Drive I couldn't justify the extra $15K that i would need to spend to have the things i have on the M35.

Even with lease 530i woul dhave cost me 740 a month with 5k down.. where i'm paying 634 a month with 2k down..

BMW is the ULTIMATE OVERPRICED MACHINE..
