Project MU dimpled/slotted rotors and Hawk Fero Carbon Pads... Pics and Questions

Well I just installed my new rotors and pads this weekend.

Rotors:
Project Mu, SCR PRO (2-Piece Dimpled & Slotted) Front Rotors
Project Mu, SC-R (Dimpled & Slotted) Rear Rotors
Pads:
Hawk Ferro Carbon Brake Pads
The question: I've been trying to bed these brake pads for 3 days now and I cannot get the damn things to stop squeeking whenever the rotors are cold. Why are the brakes still squeeking? Is it the pad material? Can this combo be properly bedded? Will this squeeking ever stop?

Here are a few quick pics. The hats are going to be repainted as the color is a little off and there are a few places that could need to be touched up.

Nice Neff. How much were the rotors and are the hats powdercoated or painted? I don't like the ugly green from Project Mu either.

Thanks. The rotor hats have high temp paint on them, not powdercoat. I got a great deal thru a friend so I really shouldn't comment on price (and the paint and repaint is free... )

The darn squeeking is INSANE. It doesn't stop!!! I have the little metal plates behind the pads and I didn't put any goop on during the install. Did I forget a step?

Thumbs up

Well....they sure look nice!!!

Can you hook me up with a "buddy deal"?????

I think you should have loaded up the back of the pads with disc brake quiet goop......that always seems to help.

What kind of pads are these? I haven't heard of them. If they are like the Hawk HPS, the noise should stop if you used the goop. But if they are like the HP +, then forget about it. NOISE NOISE and more NOISE.

Neff,

Nicely done. I am contemplating new rotors and pads as well and like the look of your set up. Not thrilled with the continued noise your are experiencing though (as I know you are not either). Please keep us all up to date as you make enhancements to your setup. Regards, Duane.

If anyone would provide me a link to the 'goop' I'd appreciate it. If that doesn't work I'm gonna switch pads.

Even if you switch pads, you will probably get some noise regardless if you don't use the goop. Just go to your local autozone and look for CRC Disc Brake Quiet.

Make sure you follow instructions and wait the full 10 minutes before reinserting them. I got impatient and installed them after five minutes. Had to redo them a month later cause of the noise. 10 minutes does do the trick.

You should be able to find CRC at just about any auto parts store. I picked up a bottle from Advance Auto for the same price, minus shipping. And yes. You really should wait until the goop dries a little before installing the pads. Not bone dry, but a little tacky. I put the goop on the backs of my "ugly green" Project Mu pads before even loosening the first lug nut. Not a peep out of those bad boys!

my hawk pads made the same squeal which was almost unbareable. went to autozone/advance auto and bought the $3 dollar can, removed pads and soaked the backside of the pads and the guard with the stuff..let dry for like 3-4 min...and voila!! worked also on my buddies G35 who had hawks that squealed!!

Thanks guys. I've bought the stuff and some brake cleaner since the pads are slightly used now...

As soon as I have the time I'm going to take your advice.
