I also don't see drift cars look stock either. Even body wise. They always have body kits and extras. A drifting event is also a show, and ppl don't want to see stock. If they aren't going to be showing a stock ride car, then they aren't going to practice on one either.
Taller tires give you a little more surface area that touches the road, providing more traction than the same tire but shorter. But the amount of traction 5mm of height difference makes is rather minuscule in comparison, IMO. Our car is gonna drift on any rubber.
I like the look of the old muscle cars that have bigger wheels in the back. Taller tires also provide this appearance distinction. Wider tires do not provide this visual distinction from a side view.
So I did it, and I like it. And I think it's gonna be sicker when I drop it.
The brands of tires I have now are just used tires used to replace some bad ones that were on the rims to begin with. Will be investing in new tires sometime soon. Just using used tires to get the sizes I like.

How do they "suck in turns"? Tend to oversteer? understeer?

This guy right here is a tire GOD. Make sure you write down everything he says. Guess that every person running stock wheels and sizes should post up in this thread.
Due to the taller sidewall I get more play from side to side then I did with stock setup. So I get some oversteer with this setup.
But it's only noticeable at speeds over 100
But it's much more quitter and softer on bumps.

The oversteer isn't from the taller sidewall, its from running a smaller width stagger f/r.
due to the tall sidewall the weight of the car is able to shift left and right in the turn, therefor causes wheel to lose traction.
Op: having "thinner" tires in the rear is very stupid IMO. Being taller tires, as shown in the pictures, make it look cheap. Looks like a nice car with some junk yard wheels. But if you like it, that's what counts. I think the look as of now is awful. I would suggest, 225/40 on front, and 255/45 in rear, for the look you're going for. It'll look nicer once it's dropped. Also, with this setup you will encounter less problems with the tires rubbing on the fenders.
