Pic Request : Underbody Damage

On my way to work today on the highway. cars around me were going slower than the speed limit, due to majority of them were on the phone not paying attention. I saw something on my lane, i tried to swerve over but i was blocked in. I hit a big peice or rock, i though i was going to clear it but i didnt. it hit my rear brace on the passenger side inches away from the lines, causing my car to catch some air time....

Just want to know if anyone had ran over anything that would cause a major damage to the car.
Thanks in advance

You're suppose to go with the flow of traffic. Doesn't matter if the signs says 45mph. If the cars around you were driving slow, there's probably a good reason.

Like a boulder in the middle of the road.

LOL, you dumb. Your not supposed to flow with the traffic, your supposed to follow the speed limit. It doesn't mean your allowed to go certain speed limit just because the people around you are.

How are you supposed to know that there's a dam boulder in the middle of the road?? There could have been a car accident, or who knows. but it's not his fault and i hope his car is fine.

Less hatin, more helpin. Hopefully nothing happened to the suspension (you mentioned some air time) I haven't run over too many things luckily in the G yet, but bent the sheeeit out of a honda I had due to "air time" heh and my own stupidity. nothing in that shot looks horrible but you may wanna get it looked at if you feel anything off since the hit...

:update:

thanks chiming in, some of my co-workers helped me out, we removed the brace and hammered it till its flat as we can get it.
on the body we used a slide hammer, we bolted it up and while we were hammering at the same time we were pusing it(making the bolt holes face down.) when we were done, we got it straight as we can but still had a gap, placed spacers between the bracing and the body while it was bolting up it was pulling the body closer to being straight.

while it was apart, i took my time spraying under coating on the some of the bare metal that was exposed due to the impact. heres the final result.

im very happy with the way it is now, its way better than after the impact. its straight enough for the new brace to bolt up to with any problems

*i went to my350z and looked around to similar incidents heres a pic that i found, same spot, but look closely to the head of the bolt

So on a rainy day, the speed limit is 55 and your flow of traffic is 45-50. You're going to cut everyone off because the limit is 55.

So in heavy traffic, flow of traffic is 25mph. What are you going to do?

This is why u go with the flow of traffic. You don't know why everyone is slowing down... When cars are slowing down, theres usually a good reason.

On a good day, the flow of traffic is about 5mph above the speed limit. People who don't follow the flow of traffic can drive on the slow lane.

A few years back I was in a similar situation. Except what I encountered wasn't a rock, it was one leaf out of a leaf spring. I suspect it fell out of a scrap metal truck.

Anyway, I too thought I had cleared it but it must have had a bit of a spin because one end got caught under the front wheel. Damned thing came up through the rocker panel under the rear passenger side door and left some scratches on the fender over the rear wheel. I can just imagine the face on the driver behind me when he saw that coming!

Scared the out of me. Lucky it didn't come up under the driver or front passenger seat.

If people are driving slow, it may or may not be for a good reason. Take an accident for instance. Most people slow down, not for safety, but to rubberneck. These are people you ride and honk at for being idiots. Now, if the accident is blocking a lane, causing people to merge, than a slow down is expected. People who don't follow the flow of traffic can drive in the passing lane, THAT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR.

This argument can go either way. Technically your supposed to follow the speed limit, but you should use your smarts to determine when you should be driving slower. Heavy rain, snow, ice, etc. By saying you should follow the flow of traffic is wrong as well. Pretend the people around you were driving 60 in a 35. Should you follow the flow? Or should you be smart and follow the speed limit.
