I wouldn't worry too much about cleaning up the edges on the coupe light that you cut open. You're going to need to seal it up, and the unsmoothed edges will help you line the edges up correctly. No one will see the edges anyway, once installed.

I want to leave the LED cluster the same. I like the G35's already unique pattern. But since I want to keep soldering to a minimal I might just sacrifice my side lights to power them up (see last pic).
