A silicon wax will add some protection for the paint. Obviously nothing like an Opticoat which is muchhh thicker. But a silicon wax will add protection to prevent tiny hair-line protection from little brush scratches

Trust me it won't. Opti-coat is a pre-polymer resin and typically cures to about 2 microns in thickness, which is relatively thin. The scratch-resistance comes from how hard the coating is. Silicone(which is only one ingredient and shouldn't be generalized) only acts as an emulsifier that helps spread the wax. It was common in waxes from the 70'-90's, and is generally being phased out for newer ingredients and formulations. Regardless, the only way it would help against preventing wash marring is by adding slickness, which only provides minimal protection at best and can be found with any type of wax, not just silicone. The new coatings are the only thing you can add to your paint to resist marring.

Nice pics and nice car. I wouldn't use that brush on my car, but if you have no issues then keep marching on.

If it is not clear here, the kind of scratches here are not always visible. Most refer to them as micro marring or swirls.

The best way to prevent swirling is to use proper wash methods and use high quality microfibers (!that are clean, kept clean, and never touch the ground).

Brushes work awesome for me. The thing people don't do it clean them before use. I pressure wash the brush with soap/water before it touches my car.
