True....^....don't forget the equipment but more importantly....talent! Welding and shaping will all the difference in the final project and quality body work will help too!

very nice.... the bottom piece will be a little harder to fit though. and lots and lots of welding. congrats. when you make something instead of buying it there is a great feel of accomplishment isn't there?

speedcretin 01-26-2013 11:56 AM

i think i started with one but i had to do 2 pieces with some pie cuts instead to get that compound curve.

i was thinking about making these for others. i would say an easy $800 to get a painted one. and the customer can decide if they want one layed back more or what ever they have in mind, hell it's custom.

TORETTO 01-26-2013 12:45 PM

$800 huh?

Guess i'll go with the Hikkata one.

speedcretin 01-26-2013 12:58 PM

yea at 800 i would say u would have got a good deal. Its alot of work. Not to mention its all done by hand. But im a firm believer that metal is better then any other way to go with this trunk so u gotta pay to play for the quality. hopefully it will look as good as it does in my head when im done  keeping my fingers crossed, so far so good.

TORETTO 01-26-2013 01:11 PM

Screw it, I think I'm gonna try this out myself. time to buy a spare trunk. :bowrofl:

Only I'm not gonna make it a smooth arc, I'm gonna have it with huge jagged edges like shark teeth so nobody will tailgate me.

speedcretin 01-26-2013 01:56 PM

hahahhahahahaha that would look cool. all spikes! do it! you wont!
