Mixed my words up, meant autocross/drifting type stuff. Here ya go

http://formulad.com/drivers/profile/kyle-mohan.php

http://formulad.com/drivers/profile/aurimas-bakchis.php

http://omgdrift.com/pro-driver-dopen...akes-pictures/

The last one shows a broken XXR wheel. Be sure to read the caption.

Soooooo, please stop hating on XXR. If you bought $4000 Volks, you are very cool to other people who did the same thing, but you aren't better than anyone.
If your argument is that you save 20 lbs to make your lap times better, then I invite you to read one of hundreds of interviews and knowledgable reports telling you to spend your money on driving lessons and not lighter, expensive wheels.

Sorry for my typing mistake when I mentioned rally earlier, it was my mistake.

Thankfully autocross/drift do not have to worry about potholes or else the XXRs would be destroyed. I never mentioned anything about lap times, merely normal safety for my and my family. Cheap cast wheels will split/shatter hitting potholes. That is why it is laughable that any rally car would use cheap cast wheels and not strong forged wheels.

Forged wheels bend, cheap cast wheek break.

XXRs dont even have to hit a pothole, they tend to break all on their own.

You found a broken one. Good job. I won't clutter the board with pics of broken Volks and rays. Why bother?

When my XXR's fail, I'll come straight here and post. But rolling through potholes and crappy road exchanges every day haven't hurt them yet. And we will just call that good ole' first hand experience.

I hate to have to hijack the OP's thread to defend his choice because people chime in with misinformation. Any bad example can be found about ANYTHING. It's of no use to harp on it. I'm done with this. Any further comments will just be wasting your "breath".

OP. Good luck with the wheels man. They look great

LOL@real wheels vs fake wheels. Kev, your xxr's are broken and you don't know it...CLEARLY!!!! This one time, I was driving down the street and someone shot a missle at my Rays and they didn't have a scratch on'em. Had I spent less money, then they would've blown up. Soooooo, I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious.

So, OP, what was this about again?

You dont get it. Yes any wheel can fail, everyone knows that.
It isn't IF a wheel fails but HOW a wheel fails. Cheap cast wheels typically have catastrophic failures which put your safety in danger (like the picture above). Well build forged wheels typically bend or crack, giving you the ability to safely bring your car to a stop. There is a reason OEM wheels are forged.

Revisiting this thread because I happened across this video while surfing today. Check out the black mustang at the quarry if you are worried about the durability of your XXR's.

Mine are still holding up perfectly and look like new, even after all the snow and ice this year.

Wheels ^ and their color look fine! Clear sides, a little tire black and polish your headlight covers...good to go! Don't lower your coupe since you're on a tight budget, just enjoy the ride...Gary

Wheels look ok but like ^ he said, lighter color maybe.. I would have settled for some OEM rays w/ spacers and saved up $ for some baller wheels I can't afford.
EDIT: I am on OEM rays until I upgrade for some ballin wheels.
