03-04 NISMO sedans represent
i need the stopping power..... the stopping power to quit modding!! hahahaah. nah but for real id love to have brembos but they're so expensive! idk about a BBK set up yet...
might just get slotted rotors... haha.

Yea i'm buying akes as soon as i get a buyer for my brembos lined up just in no rush. It seems the brembos are still holding their value at least on my350z. In other words i saw poly nismos for 400 shipped on ebay now.
honestly, i upgraded my stock rotors and put stoptech pads on my stock brakes and they stopped better if not equal to my brembos...i've yet to get fresh pads on the brembos though so we'll see
The akebono's are the most inexpensive BBK around, period. If you don't consider 4 piston calipers with 14" rotors a BBK, then I don't know what to say.... These brakes have performed flawlessly under in and all conditions to include 100* heat on 3.5 mile courses.

honestly OEM Brembos & Akes both make a HUGE difference visually to the G, especially the sedans. can't go wrong w/either choice, Brembos are a lot lighter but Akes look amazing customized

it's the width of the rotor that kills it
The akebono's are just as thick or thicker than the Brembo. You can also get two piece front rotors and that puts a huge dent in the weight..... How thick do they need to be, 32 mm isn't enough for the front? They never once failed on the track... so I don't know how much more I need for 98% of a daily driver.
The AP racing rotors are only 32mm thick in the front....

btw, my main issue w/the Ake's is the rears. the 23mm thickness eats up space that could be used for venting to retain structural rigidity, the rear pads are also pretty small. i consider Willwoods the most affordable legit BBK
I'm not getting defensive, I'm just trying to understand the logic behind "they aren't a true BBK"....I guess maybe it is the price tag, if so then I understand, if not, then I will continue to be baffled at the logic.
I never said I was the only one on this board with AKEBONO brakes, not quite sure where that came from, but oh well...
Carry on....
