New X owner here...

New G owner checking in…

So I bought my first Infiniti last month… a 2004 G35X. So far I am nothing but impressed with this car. It’s just beautiful, it’s sporty and it’s lux. I think the black exterior with wheat interior is such a classy combo.

I kind of regret the X-factor right now, since all the AWD is doing is weighing me down by 300 pounds. However, I am sure I’ll change my mind if we get a snowy winter (I’m in New York.) Still, even in the rain with the VDC off I can’t spin the tires… that’s pretty sweet on a car with this kind of power. But if I could do it over, I’d go with a 6MT sport sedan.

My G has the 17inch chrome 5-spoke wheels, which I understand is pretty rare…

Anyway, just saying hi. Attached is an image of my G. What do you think?

Thanks for the welcome!

No mods in the near future... the car had 29K miles (now 31K) and I got a great deal on a 4 yr / 100K warrantee... so I'll leave it stock.

I have been playing with the idea of blowing the motor after a few years, but with the way stock HP has been rising year after year, even a blown '04 G may be left behind in 2010 or 2011 (unless you go crazy with the boost). In a cost vs. value analysis, it may make more sense to trade it in for a newer, faster car in 2012 (like a 380HP G40 or something).

Anyway, I've been reading threads that the '04 X really has about 270HP and gets a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds. Is this true? If so, that's not a bad amount of performance.

They are rare. I have only seen one other car with the optional chromes on these forums besides mine, now two including yours. Keep them clean! Congrats on the new G.
