The Process Begins....

Very nice I was wondering why you were looking very blotchy lol. I mean technically, if you want a matte finish you should have used a flattening agent, I honestly haven't heard of anybody wetsanding and leaving it down like that to create the flat look. The way I do my mattes is just get a nice base color going, then when it comes to the clear coat mix a bit of flattening agent in and bam! Flat/Matte, Semi-Flat, whatever you name it.
3M trizact 3000 I think it's a type of sandpaper, 3000 GRIT sandpaper is kinda rare and not usually found in local auto stores. I usually just go to 2000 and use a extra little compound. There are shops who just skip the 3000 grit step and go right into the finishing compound. I wetsand from 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 then hit it with 3M Perfect It II & a wool pad. Does wonders everytime!
@Naughty, yeah I mean I start with 800 depending on how much orange peel there is and how much clearcoat I applied.. but I would love to start with 1000 but I always still find a bit of orange peel afterwards. So I stuck to going down to 800.

I was not trying to get a matte finish by sanding ^ I started sanding because I didn't like the last coat I applied when I got new fenders...
I used this to achieve the matte.

Oh I mean there are obviously other ways to achieve the matte look lol, I was just stating one way not to sound like a dick or anything.
Makes sense, where did you find a booth to rent at? I tried finding places for ages but no one is willing to rent one out to me lol so I just paint outdoors and wet the floor like a douchebag.
Props that you could tear down your car like that, I'm still hesitant on sanding my car down the paint is still in really mint condition lol.

@ Naughty, what exactly would the 3000 achieve vs 2000 grit? I've always wondered that I just recently started painting.
