Custom Borla TDX Exhaust- pics and vids

Before

After a lot of research I decided to go ahead and modify my Borla Tru-Dual exhaust on my sedan. I swapped the large pre-muffler after the cats which Borla system uses in favor of an unrestricted x-pipe. I opted for a straight thru- x instead of a muffler with an x-path inside (such as the magnaflow 14385 that many other people have used) mainly because I felt Borla with kinetix HFC's Im running was very quiet and restrictive. My goals were to increase low end torque and add a more aggressive, less boomy exhaust note.
After driving with the x-pipe I can not believe how big of a difference this made in low end response! I have 4.083 gears, bolt ons and recently had it tuned which really moved my power band into the higher rpms (5000+). Now, with the x-pipe I jump through the lower rpms very quickly. Cars feels really quick from dead stop, pedal feels lighter and acceleration requires less effort it seems. As far as sound, its not much louder than before except for the typical borla drone which has now moved much higher in the rpms. Its now a little louder at about 3600-4000 where as it droned around 2500 before, but this shift is good because im not usually up that high in daily driving. Being picky, im still not in love with the sound and there in a little buzzing close to redline, but the performance benefits outweigh any negatives so far..Thanks to Jeff92se for his recent thread and convincing me to hack up the borla! Here are some of the threads I used for reference.

Great work. That would have definitely been one of my projects. But I am afraid that I would need a few more mufflers to tune the noise level down for my taste. =)

Tampa, repost this in my thread if you wish. Just to get all the borla/exhaust stuff on one place. I saw my thread stickied in the sedan section so it will benefit others that are considering a X pipe for their non-X dual exhuasts. Now they get to choose resonated X and plain X for their borlas.

Camera should be in the car, dont even really need the window open. Just want to get a feel for the over all sound level and tone. Reving clips at idle with the camera on the ground would work too..Thanks again. BTW sometimes when u upload them to a site like photobucket.com, playback is a lilttle better.

It sounds great. Exactly as I expeted. More linear sounding..less burbly.

It definately made the tone higher pitched and yes, more linear.

^^ That's what Klubbs did. He reported no rasp or drone. My borla is 2.25" but Stillen uses 2.5". I'm not sure what dia I'd use if I actually had the choice. Probably would take a chance with the 2.5" but it would have to have the resonated X to keep the low end torque as good/low as possible.
