So I stretched my fenders and went too far. The paint is cracked and there are several ripples.

I'm considering fixing it myself but wanted to get a couple shop quotes first. Anyone have any first or second hand experience with paying a shop to fix something like that? I won't be able to get quotes for a few days and very curious to know. I'm figuring at least $1k to $1,500, maybe more...

Depends on how bad they are. I got mine fixed through insurance since I had gotten rear ended and the quarter panel buckled in a little, so they took care of both fenders while they were at it.

However, before, I did go to a shop and ask how much it would be to widen my fenders. I was quoted 2k with paint for the rears. From the sounds of it, your fenders couldn't be any worse than mine since I had gone beyond pulling (hammering them out). It'll depend on the kind of work you'd want them to do. You can have them smoothen out the fender and repaint. That's what the body shop did on mine and it came out great and it's been holding up very well. That 1k, I doubt it. That's probably the max you will pay.

The cost will be roughly whatever area they need to paint. And the smoothening work isn't all that much either. I'd say in the 500-1000 range.

So I went to 4 shops. The quotes ranged from $1,600 to $1,900.

Yeah that's quite a bit ridiculous. Should be just some slight bondo work and paint based on how you described it. Any pics Tim?

Tim I would say since your ob it should be about 500-750. Quality paint isn't cheap neither is the filler or glaze. I charge 2-3k for a paint to color swap. Still trying to grasp how a 1k paint job is performed unless your doing it for free
