yeah, i realize their not the best pics. also, in the daylight it looks like the two front quarterpanels have shifted out of alignment on both sides by the windshield, all the way down the door is all out of wack, its also kind of overbiting the nismo kit on the drivers side again... i'm probably going to push to total the car. any resale value just went out the window with a vehix that reads MAJOR SUBFRAME DAMAGE

In the first pictures it is really hard to see any damage. It just looks like you popped your hood. On closer examination I can see that both your front wheels are pointed inward like it's pigeon toed. Your suspension is definitely trashed. Good luck with your claim with the city.

i edited it, i'm still not sure it's as clear as it could be... but you get the point.
yeah, i called the city hall today. it's going to be a process; i have to write a letter to the City Clerk, detailing what happened and what i would like to have done, and she forwards it to the Law dept., who apparently will decide the whole thing. also; they can't be spoken to. there is no contact number for them, no address, nothing. i'm not holding my breath. luckily at that point, even if they deny it, i'm only out 500.00 as opposed to the cost of the repair or the car itself.

500 is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. a repair like this could be anywhere from 7-10k... or the value of the car.

yes, but i'll be left trying to get the deductible back from the city(the 500.00 i'm talking about above).

Sorry to hear about this, really sucks bad. The piece you hit was not a water main, it is a the casting/lid for a water valve in the street, which they won't typically set until they're ready to pave. It's basically a small manhole cover to access a shutoff valve. I've seen lids on these become displaced just from people driving over them.

Just curious if the City is truly the one at fault? Was it the City DPW doing the work or was it some private contractor? It is possible that it was a private contractor doing the work and if so, they would be the one you want to chase. Might want to look into that aspect of it now (might want to check w/ the DPW or engineering Dept. to see who the contractors are). Let me know if I can help or if you have any questions.

Jim

it was only loose because they were grading and repaving, so i'm pretty sure it all gets tracked back to the highway dept in waltham. could be wrong though. i'm assuming i'm going to put in my claim with them and their going to deny it. i'm not going to chase it down past that, i have insurance adn i'm not worried about 500.00 bucks past that. it's just the principle of the thing past that.

in any case, progressive FINALLY sent out an adjuster to my shop today, he called me around 10:00 with the news as to what the damage is... i'm sure there's more that he didn't mention; cause i can't imagine that this adds up... but this is what he gave me

bumper cover
hood
cross member
radiator
radiator support
skid plate
splash guard

also he said the fenders were "tweaked" but could be saved... all told i'm sitting at a 6k payout... looking to repair the hood and bumper and put that towards something else, and see what i can find for cheap OEM replacements for the rest... i dont see any point in getting a big radiator if im not going FI... and since i'm scurred about putting FI to the x setup that's not happening....
