LOLz! I needed backup storage for all of my photos. Currently transferring almost a TB over to the Drobo.

My desktop has two drives 2TB and 1TB, so 7TB total including the Drobo. I'll be using most of one of those drives as a DVR once I get a new TV tuner.

Thanks man. Love the Drobo. I've already transferred every single photo plus copies of edited and resized files that I've taken over the past 5 years (70,000+ files). Its only 30% full, I've got more than enough storage space now.

Desk is IKEA, its one of their dining room tables that I use as a desk.

The Drobo uses a proprietary technology called "Beyond RAID". Basically it detects when a disk is going to go bad and it "self heals" by sending the data on that disk to other open sectors in the array. You can then swap out the one bad drive with a replacement drive and your array will fully rebuild and restore itself.

nearly all my stuff is from ikea that dining table looks great as a desk.

 

^We have two of them, they make awesome desks. When looking for a desk most were way too freakin' small and overpriced. I just needed a large flat simple table.
