spent a good amount of $$$ on that didnt you?? thats some decent stuff... i use the shermin william products... a bit more in cost but a huge difference in quality IMO (paint/clear) ... its pretty much all the same and mainly just preference. It really all depends on how its all mixed and how the paint/clear coat is sprayed on there.

yes it was more than i expected. i wanted to go cheaper, but that meant possibly going with a more plain color, such as white. since the guy said this volcano red has a bunch of pearl/flake/metallic or what not in it.
since the 240 is just my daily, i didn't want to spend too much, but i wasn't going to rattlecan it like 80% of the daily driven beaters out there.
as for the gun, it depends on the setup they have in the booth i'm using.
i was looking for a cheap devilbiss to lay down the primer here at home though. then drive it to the booth to spray the base and clear.
still haven't made up my mind.

Metallic is only hard to spray on certain colors. Just harder on the big flat panels so you dont have streaks on it. Nason is ok but the red may get darker over time. The clear has a small window of time if you wanna buff it. The primer is decent but be sure to give it time to fully dry to it shrinks

aww shoooot. now i'm getting scared i might mess up everything.
i've been watching a bunch of vids on youtube of people using hvlp guns. some people move the gun fast and lay down light coats, others seem to go to slower and lay down heavier coats. do either methods work, or is one better for metallics.

It all depends on temps.. I usually tend to spray lighter coats when it's colder out and vise versa when it's warner out.. it really a depends on what your comfortable with. No 2 painters paint the same. Clear coating is the scariest part bc once you mess that up you'll have to wait for it to cure until you can fix.it... Good luck!
