John Zhang and I shot each other's rides yesterday. I shot his ride and sunset and he shot mine after it was dark. The shot below he took of my ride was just a "test" shot.

can't believe you don't have any scratches on that bumper...that thing is on the ground

 

I love the sunset and after shots. Is that the best time to get good photos? Just curious what are the camera settings?

Oh there are a few scratches on the bottom of the bumper. Can't avoid it when it sits less than 2" off the ground. Nothing that photoshop can't remove though...hehe.

Thanks. Yes the best time for natural light photography is what's known as the "golden hour", one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset.

My camera settings for the shot I posted were:

Nikon D300
Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8
Hoya CPL filter
Manfrotto Tripod legs/head
5 second shutter delay

Aperture Priority at f5.6, RAW, ISO 200, AWB (adjusted in post processing)
Edited with Nikon Capture NX. Adjusted white balance, exposure compensation, saturation, and contrast. 2 layer image, one for the brakes (didn't look right desaturated a bit) and 1 for the rest of the image.

 

 

Thanks for the settings. You lost me with the last part lol. I'm sure I'll have more questions later. I just want to be able to take the best shots possible when I do photograph. I got some learning do though In for the final shoot.
