custom side markers!

Hey guys, thought i'd show some of the recent work me and my buddy david (DVG) did on my car.

We bought led strips (mine 6k) and an amber strip as well. The led strip lights up normall as the sidemarkers do and the amber strip only flashes when you put the turn signal on. It doesn't alternate like i've seen in other videos, the turn signal and the amber strip in the side marker go at the same time. Some pics and i will upload a video shortly!

Shout out to DVG, took his time to make the side markers, awesome work.

A few questions:

1. Where did you buy the strips from?

2. Cost of parts for project?

3. How do you wire these? Do you cut them to the size you need and Solder + and - wires to them?

That sucks man,

Im trying to figure out a way to secure them to the bumper, I saw one thread that suggested putting a nail through it, but there isnt much material on the sedan sidemarkers, so it is harder to do that.

1. I bought the strips from SuperbrightLEDs, I used WFLS strips I think.

2. You need to buy connectors, wire, soldering equipment, a fume extractor(safety first), and other things to be able to do this.

The things that you need to buy specifically for this project are just the LED strips.

So, the cost depends on what you already have. I didnt have any of this stuff so it was pricey for me.

3. Thats exactly what you do, to get the signal you need to take the bumper and headlight off and splice into the turn signal hot wire. The white lights and ground are connected where the sidemarker was.

zip tie will help some... what sucks is that they stole the whole socket and everything. all they left hanging was the wires

Luckily where I live doesnt have as many modded Gs, even less that are sedans. So I dont think people will be as ravenous and idiotic.

You cant even really tell that they're LED sidemarkers until you turn them on, so it sounds like you were targeted.

Cool work, though personally I think running white/blueish lights for your marker is foolish, not to mention being illegal.

Still very cool either way, and without the 'marker' portion on and just the signal working it looks awesome!!

^ thanks! and it's not as blue as it looks in the vid, my cell phone camera really exaggerates the color of it, the leds are 6k, to match with my headlights (soon to be 6k)
