Nice box, but no..

1 cube internal airspace? In most cases, that'll leave what...6-.7 for a 12? Yeah..not happening.

Your average 12 would need around 1.5 AFTER sub displacement to do it's thing. That's get low into the 30's like subs are suppose to..not fall flat on it's face around 50hz like most setups are since subs are stuffed into smaller enclosures then the shipping container they shipped in.

You'd get more output and dig deeper making these for ported 8's.

I see cancellation issues here.

If you guys are concerned about trunk space, please look into infinite baffle

from Alpines owners manual on the new type R 12's
displacement is .10 ft3 take that away from there recommend sealed box size of .55 ft3 to 1.0 ft3 - puts this box ideal for there specs.

a ported box will always outperform a seal box, but that is why you port a box, to build a DB gain at desired FQ, a ported box is aslo bigger,

the idea of these boxes are to give a good bass responce without givingup much room, this wont be for everyone, but for those who want more bass and still need your trunk this is your solution.

The ships takin fire captain. Return fire matey, return fire !

So what would be the best way to protect these speakers from damage? Seems like they take up marginally less space than a box.

On the other hand are these boxes bottoming out? Or is terr a bunch f sound deadening needed

depends on brand of speakers, alpine make a nice grill for there subs, JL does also, and if your subs are a standard size one of the generic grills would work.

Okay, have you modeled the R? Did u account for cabin gain? Did u take the resonant frequency of the sedans into consideration?

I was more concerned about the ib. They look dope but I almost always have something going on and **** in my trunk. (that's why I have 4 doors)

ehh you could easily build a guard to protect your woofers for the ib set up. sealing our trunk would just be a biotch though!

But wouldn't that take just as much space as a box?

Looks good...woulda been better if enclosures were a bit larger and feeding them min 750w, nonetheless it looks good.

+1 for IB though. Till this day I still wish I woulda picked up a pair of 18" Image Dynamics drivers.
