The Latest

I've never really posted anything here yet regarding the car's progress. I'll be doing a progress thread at some point (after dyno tune most likely).

For now thought I'd share, it's been the longest winter of my life, but it's finally alive. Bunch to be done yet, but things are coming together!

I don't know why it's so hard to embed a video on this site.... someone please help. It seems like I try a million versions of the link and sometimes (only sometimes) it randomly works.

For now just click the link

edit thanks jdm_Cain!

quick update. Car is tuned!!! She's a beast!! Big thanks to Sasha @ Onpoint Dyno for handling the Dyno Tune for me, great work man!

He had it up over 400 whp and 380 wtq, but wisely pulled the torque back and power followed a bit. End result is a very smooth 393 WHP and a nice flat torque curve that is hanging around 340 WTQ.

Peak boost was a pinch over 12 PSI, The usable bit of it around 10-11 PSI though. Just perfect! If curious, power/torque was pulled because I will be racing this car in Auto X and some Road Corse events, Hoping the engine will hold together

Also: Only has resonated test pipes and a Stock exhaust I think I'll need to build the engine before I do the dual exhaust I was planning!!

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Awesome Matt, great job not giving in to the urge for max power. Not a lot of people have that vision and restraint.

Probably should have pulled it back more. So much for putting A dual exhaust on lol. There's just too much power

Here's a comparison showing the higher power pull before he started de-tuning. The high power pull is the 'trace'

That was then smoothed out into the graph I posted earlier. There's a lot of headroom for power but these poor little VQ35DE rods are not going to like that much I don't think

Great Stuff Matt - Wow, that's big power man, Congrats. Thanks for sharing the videos and props to you for all the DIY work. You have been one of my inspirations to continue challenging myself to push the limits, and do stuff on my own. Keep up the good work Bro.

Very kind words Chris! Thanks dude! Your dedication and scrupulous mods have been the same inspiration for me!

I was looking back through my basement 'shelf' with all my organized car-mod sections yesterday, and holy crap there's a lot there considering I've only had this car a bit over a year,
I think it's almost time to stop for a bit and sell off some old stuff. Pay for a race entry or two maybe this season lol.

speaking of which, since I have 2 of those fellow Vortech'd Sedan owners posting here, I am working on one little, very unexpected issue.

Fuel system.

What did you guys do for your fuel systems? Are you both running the Vortech 'full kit' setup? The sedan fuel pump is different, and I think it's causing issues. I'm losing fuel pressure under boost at high RPM. Since there are very few sedans boosted I'm not finding much helpful information. Also I think there are even less sedan guys who are using software/ECU's that will even read this problem. Most might not even know it exists.

Charles at CJM has been a tremendous help and is working on it with me. I can't say enough good things about this dude, just a good old fashioned stand up gentleman who genuinely loves to help!
That said I'm certain he and I will come up with a resolve here, and we are currently brainstorming together on it. By "we" I of course mean I'm asking questions and he is educating me and coming up with all the ideas.

Just curious what you two had done for fuelling. I'm pretty sure the Twin turbo guys just go with a completely different fuel system altogether, dual in-tank pumps, return system, etc. But for the mid-range HP vortech setups it's not necessary on coupes and 350's, but it seems the sedan might be a different story.
