To show the mph which is a better indication of power than ET. My old fwd Eclipse went 12.6 @ 119 (modified just a little
). Well if I had traction that would have been a low 12, maybe high 11.

I am strictly talking about what I have seen driving the GT for 3 years. When I mean the GT is faster I am talking about a scenario where you are going say 65 mph and need to pass a car. In a manual GT as soon as you hit that gas (don't even have to downshift) the car will very quickly get up to 90 and pass a car. It will do that MUCH MUCH quicker than the G will even respond. The GT will pass with great ease compared to the G. Now some of that is that I am now waiting for the auto, but not all of it. If you go to over a 100 sure, maybe the G will catch up and "win" at the very top end. However, in day to day passing at highway speeds, the GT will overtake this car. The GT is by far easier to drive fast. The G will go, but you do have to push it harder. It feels much much heavier in it's response.
Not to knock the G, it has many things the GT cant' touch. I think those things are by far more important. Actually, the speed of the GT was kinda annoying after a while. It casued me to drive much more quickly than I do in this car by a mile.

That, and the delay from an auto vs. manual.
The Legacy GT definitely has a low end TQ advantage, so there would be a noticeable difference if you don't downshift when comparing the two.
I had a similar experience comparing the Volvo S60R (the other car I almost bought) to the G35. The volvo has PEAK tq from 1900 rpm all the way to almost redline. This means you'll feel peak acceleration, all the way through the rpms, no matter where you are.
Compared to the G, where you feel a significan surge at upper rpms where TQ peaks.
Without downshifting, or normal passing, the S60R feels, and is significantly faster. At full throttle, at any speed, the G still has a slight advantage overall in acceleration though.

13.7 at 99mph vs. 13.8 at 103mph.
TIME: 13.7 vs. 13.8
DISTANCE: 1/4 mile
SPEED: 99 vs. 103mph
In a race between these two cars fom a STOP, they'd reach the distance of 1/4 mile at roughly the same TIME. But, the G35 would be travelling faster. This tells you that at that time, and any distance past that........ The G35 would be pulling away at a speed of 4mph or more.
What trap speed tells you about a race between these two cars on the HIGHWAY is basically, which one will be faster.
Summary: Trap speed is a good indication of power/weight. This tells you which car will be faster at highway speeds.
The fact that the cars both have the same 1/4 mile time and distance means you can compare them. (Science 101: you can only have 1 variable in an experiment for a good comparison).

But, the Z06 would have a much higher trap speed, which is a good indication of the beating I would take racing one on the highway.
Final note on highway and overall acceleration times:
From: http://www.car-videos.net/performanc...?id1=320&id2=0 and http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ecs_price.html
G35: 0-100 13.44 seconds
Legacy GT spec B: 0-100 15.3 seconds
60-100 (short highway race)
G35: 8.09 seconds
GT spec B: 9.9 seconds
It's not even close. But, what would you expect with 243hp and awd vs. 306hp and rwd?
