My 07 LP g35x with a couple mods

Hey all. I've always been more of a lurker around these forums, so i guess this is my first real post. I have another account which i registered last year around august but I didn't like my username so i created a new account Anyway, finally took some pics with my buddy today (07 Legacy GT) and decided to share some here, so hopefully you guys will enjoy them. My friend hasn't uploaded all the pics yet, so i'll update it when i get a chance. I'm around the boston area...lots of snow during the winter, so i doubt i'll be dropping my car anytime soon. Anyway, it's a great pleasure to finally join this vibrant g35 community. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Nice whips man. I just bought a 08 g35x on Monday. I will not lower mine due to the fact i like to snowboard in the winter. What % is your tint man? I was thinking about going with a 20% optic tint. Anyway, keep it pimpin'

Thanks for the compliments. I'm in the boston area...and the potholes are just massive and gets really annoying in the winter. I have 25% carbon (?) tints all around. Where are you from? Wish i could get my friend's evo X in the picture too...but too bad he wasn't free that day

Nice pics.

I have had my G35x for a few months. My last car was a 05 Legacy Gt. The Legacy was a manual so I can't say for sure, but from what I have experienced so far, the Legacy will walk away from this car on the highway. This car is fast, but is not as fast as the Subie.

Dont' race him........ If he has a manual anyway.

It's in your head. (manuals seem quicker than they are) The only stock Legacy GT that would keep up with the G35 is a spec B. And the G35 (even the auto) should still be faster than the spec B.

The regular GT traps around 95mph in the 1/4 mile to the over 100mph for the G35. That gives you a good idea about how the cars would compare on the highway.

The Legacy GT auto wouldn't even be remotely close.

Ok first thing. The Spec B is not ANY FASTER than the GT. They have the same exact enginer and hp numbers. People think is has more power, that is a total lie. The Spec B simply has bigger standard wheels, special seats, navi, VDC, and a 6 speed.. A few other small things like memory seats. I would know, I almost bought one.

I stand by my statement. After driving a Legacy GT manual for 3 years, it is much more responsive on the highway. It is lighter and has much quicker response. If I was going 60 on the highway in 5th, and didn't even downshift, the car took off. The G is slower to respond but much smoohter. The g is simply too heavy. The GT would blow it away....

Although I hate magazine racing......

The Spec B is a few tenths and a few mph faster than the regular GT in the 1/4 mile. (due to the better gearing).

And both are a few mph slower than ANY 2007+ G35.

The Legacy GT has better traction than a G35 due to AWD...... and still loses any 0-60 and 1/4 mile race. What's that tell you about it's highway capabilities?

The G35 has better acceleration, more power, a higher top speed and lower drag. It's gonna be faster any way you look at it.

Fastest time I could find for a Legacy GT spec B
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....0&print_page=y
13.7 at 99mph

compared to a G35 at 13.8 at 103mph

Spec B slow time: 14.5 at 96mph
http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2611b.shtml

Both prove my point. In the time it takes a spec B to hit 96-99mph, a G35 is doing 103 (and walking away). Plus, you'll never see a stock (non spec B) Lecay GT running a 13.7 in the 1/4 mile (proving my other point that a spec B is faster).

Modified Legacy GT vs. stock G35 from a roll.

Summary: Modded GT (intake, up pipe, exhaust, tune) only pulled 1 carlength by 120mph.

ummmmmmm, you may need to go back to school. a 13.7 is FASTER then a 13.8 and that means the Subaru is FASTER.

Reading comprehension pwns you.

He's talking about a highway race. 103mph is faster than 99mph.

The only way the Spec B ran a 13.7 was by dumping the clutch at high rpms and with awd.

While good traction equals lower 1/4 mile times........ it is meaningless in a highway acceleration comparison.

Which reminds me..... I forgot to mention the fact that awd has higher parasitic losses than rwd. And the fact that the G35 has a better power to weight.

Also..... the 13.7 was only for a Spec B. The original poster was talking about a regular Legacy GT (which is slower).

The spec B vs GT discussion has been going on for years in the legacy forum. The consensus is that there is a slim to none difference between the cars.

I am strictly talking about what I have seen driving the GT for 3 years. When I mean the GT is faster I am talking about a scenario where you are going say 65 mph and need to pass a car. In a manual GT as soon as you hit that gas (don't even have to downshift) the car will very quickly get up to 90 and pass a car. It will do that MUCH MUCH quicker than the G will even respond. The GT will pass with great ease compared to the G. Now some of that is that I am now waiting for the auto, but not all of it. If you go to over a 100 sure, maybe the G will catch up and "win" at the very top end. However, in day to day passing at highway speeds, the GT will overtake this car. The GT is by far easier to drive fast. The G will go, but you do have to push it harder. It feels much much heavier in it's response.

Not to knock the G, it has many things the GT cant' touch. I think those things are by far more important. Actually, the speed of the GT was kinda annoying after a while. It casued me to drive much more quickly than I do in this car by a mile.
