To the OP.. drop looks good.. im actually trying to decide between tanabe and eibach.. H&R's are a little too low for my taste.. i think eibach is just perfect

I had the same dilemna...
From what I heard from 2 parts guys I deal with is that Tanabe and especially Tein for that matter, tend to sag more over time. I gave eibach even more faith when I found out that all TRD springs (Toyota Racing Development-Toyota's OEM aftermarket) are really eibachs and are relabelled/branded/marketed as TRD. Call me naive, but if Toyota trusts eibachs, so will I.

I have no experience with Tanabe. I was always happy with eibach pro, and have religiously used eibach for years on my other cars (civic, camry, the G) and have recommended them to my brother (protege) and for my buddy's RSX. It's always been a good choice IMO for looks, quality, ride, and longevity.

I also 100% agree with someone's post "a little negative camber won't hurt anything". I have never used a camber kit before (civic, 323, camry) and neither did my brother or my buddies with their setup. Your worst case scenario is having to change your tires out a few thousand miles earlier.
I simply chose that for my G, I'd do it right, and not cheap out for an additional $200ish part, so when and if I drop a few grand for rims/tires, I won't get premature wear issues. Peace of mind for me, but it's your call.

Hey! I wonder..how was the ride now. Im thinking to drop but afraid since we got an X. It could damage our all wheels drive system as manual said.

Maybe it's just me or my computer monitor. That looks stock. Is the X higher to start with? I have eibachs and my fenders seem to sit right on top of the tire. You appear to have a 2" gap.

Im looking into lowering my black G as well. I have AWD so would dropping it really take away the awd that much? i live in canada so the AWD is great for the winter. I have iforged 19s coming in as well so i guess ill wait to see how the gaps look after i put on the rims

I was thinking the same thing. The wheel well gap looks about as big as stock. Eibachs should drop a 2WD and X down to about 1 - 1 1/2 fingers gap depending on how much gas is in the tank.

Interesting. I never noticed any difference between stock X and 2wd. I guess you learn something new everyday. Good work, looks nice.

Hey man - tell me about your driving experience with the eibachs vs stock. Is the difference great? or relatively small? in terms of taking turns and overall driving characteristics.

I drive an X too. I also live in Ontario..hehe where did u get this set up installed? and how much did everything cost you? including the equipment, shipping, duty, installation. I am interested to know cuz I may consider it.

If you cant tell me the price here on this thread, could u PM it to me? thanks man!

Well, for me my friend, a drop is mandatory on pretty much anything I drive.
I find it safer, sportier, and bottom line...more fun to drive. it gives the driver more stability and control. the car doesnt float like stock but feels more planted.

ride quality obviously suffers a little. It will be a bit more stiff, taking potholes harder and even an odd bounce here and there.
it's a very worthwhile sacrifice IMO for the huge diff in performance. Every car I owned was dropped and I dont plan on changing that. Taking turns and bends are OUTSTANDING when the cars dropped. highway on/off ramps are a joke now.

But, in all honesty, the major reason for a drop is just plain and simple, the LOOK. If you're gonna put on a set of nice 19's (or 20's), you gotta do it right and give the car a drop it deserves.

Eibach pro kit cost me $300ish, $120ish for rear camber kit (optional but I chose to get it anyways), and $150 installed at soundspeed motorsports in etobicoke. Pretty cheap upgrade IMO. I have no regrets and would do it again and again. I must mention though that you have to KNOW how to handle a speed bump or curbs when lowered. If you have no experience driving lowered, you may want to reconsider, the G drops pretty low.

Awesome write up. Thanks for that =)

Did u ship the eibachs from the US? or is there a dealer in Canada?

How are you finding your drop now that its snowing?

Glad to hear your car handles outstanding now. I'd love that.

Any one that drops their cars should consider getting the alignment back to
OEM specs! Have you seen the prices of tires lately? Looking at Michelins
PS2 for my coupe the fronts were $350 and the rears over $400 each.
How many sets of tires would you go thru until you realized you needed
to get your car back to specs at that price.... Does excessive
camber make your car faster....NOT!

johnnyzee -

- How close/similar (guessing) is your ground clearance, to that of the G35S?
- Have you been driving it in snow this winter? Compared to stock, how is the handling in snow?
- Do you feel you still have enough clearance for heavy snow days. Sometimes my car's belly craps the snow and that is why I hesitate to lower mine.
Thanks
