Front Plate bracket painted body color?
Has anyone seen a pic of the front plate bracket painted body colour?
(no luck on a search)
To me the black plastic looks cheap...
I'm debating whether it's worth the effort or not.

I'm with you on that Ian.
I was even thinking it might look good if the black plastic frame underneath the plate was removed. Then just mount the plate in a frame like we have in the back.

That's an idea!
...I really wish it was the same size as the plate instead of being slightly oversized.
I was actually considering my plate label thing again,
but I think there's too much curve to the bumper.
The label material has almost no stretch to it.

Late last year, Ian and I had talked about the ugly front plate mount on our 2nd Gen G35 Sedans. The mount was black and it was about 1" wider than the license plate. We talked about painting it body colour and then Ian said that he could make it the same width as our plates by cutting it near each end then gluing it back together.
A while later before I went away for a month vacation, Ian said if you want me to give it a try at modifying the front mount, leave it with me while you are gone for the month.
Well low and behold, he did it, he narrowed it up and even painted it body colour. I finallly installed it along with a new brushed stainless frame. I think it looks great. Much better then the wider black original one. If youhave to run with your front plate, I think this is a sweet mod.
Thanks so much to Ian for giving up some of his own mod time to work on mine.
Here are a few pics.

Hahaha, I was wondering why Ian was prating about this since I saw pics of his new 'front plate mount'. He's one sneaky bastidge! (but in a good way)
Very cool move, Ian.
I have a fakey-looking plastic faux-cf rear plate frame.

kinda hard to see but i bought black plate frame (very simple thin and cheap!! frame) & smoke cover at autozone. used ziptie to hold everything down.

same thing in front. i didnt want to drill hole in the bumper so i just used ziptie and hooked it around the plastic mesh.

mines is painted IP i think the black looks tacky and out of place its a small detail that makes a big diff
