^ Hmmmm. I don't think I would like that. I'd probably tap them into the illuminated kick panel lighting instead of the glove box then, so they go on and off with the doors, rather than the headlights.

Any of you guys installed ambient footwell lighting this way?

I tapped my wires into the cigarette lighter ring light. Used a potentiometer to control the light intensity and on/off. Only comes on when I turn the headlights on.

Ok, I like the idea of being able to dim them with a potentiometer.... then I might be able to deal with them being on the entire time the headlights are on. Although, I still think I'd prefer them to only be on when the doors open and then slowly dim out like the rest of the interior lights. This is how my M3 was set up and I loved it.

couple of things you can do....1) tap in to the dome lights if you can find the path of wires to those lights. 2) tap into the lights in the door and have a capacitor in parallel with your lights. That should give you the dim out effect your looking for.

Yeah... I plan to tap into the interior lighting wires right at the BCM in the passenger footwell. I will probably tap directly into the wires for the Illuminated kick plates, since those dim in and out when the doors are opened and closed. I'll let you guys know how it works once I have a chance to do the install.

I can really use this because more than one occasions I've dropped a coins and my wife dropped a milk bottles or her make up stuffs, it is always pain in the rear to find things on the floor @ night even all the lights are turn on.

This is something I will definitely work on.
