Spray-painted Akebono's
#17
Thanks again, guys.
Q8y, i have a PG. The blue on the caliper is Duplicolor DE 1646 (Trophy blue) if you're interested.
Y'all can also use the higher temp 1200c paint, but the colors are limited and it doesn't come in clear. I've used the 500 stuff (same as on these) on my previous and existing car--which has seen track duty--and they've held up just fine.

Don't you think the cure time was a little overkill on the paint colours?
They look amazing though, great idea giving them a little bit of heat in the oven to test the decals. When I get my akebonos I will probably do this rather than powder coat them, saves me from having to rebuild the caliper.
Great job!

Thanks Yep, if i went with the 1200 paint, curing could've certainly been cut down by just popping them in the oven. But the 500 paint requires 5 days for the solid colors and 7 for the clear to cure before applying anything else on top after the flash period.
If the logos were just stickers, the clear could certainly go in within that first hour after applying the blue paint.

Keep it on
p.s. I'm curious as to your post on '37. How hot have you been able to get the calipers on the track? I couldn't even break 350 on my stock calipers. At 500, i'm more worried about boiling fluid than paint flaking off. If that does happen i'm redoing it with 1200 paint.
Thanks!
