Hey, just be thankful you aren't in the SF bay area; bikers here are downright militant (and quite possibly suicidal). They will not move over or give up an inch of the road . . . SO frustrating!

That looks like a bike lane to the right. If so, they should be in the bike lane and not the road.

Unfortunately not true - theres no laws that say bikers cannot use roads or that roads are made for motor vehicles only. Anyone that pays taxes in a certain juriadiction are paying in part for road maintenance, said realizing that people pay extra to license motor vehicles. I admittedly have had the attitude of other americans that anyone not going five over the speed limit should gtfo of the way, but that is not right. Go to europe for a while and you'll understand that cars dont rule the road. They technically shouldnt here in the US either.

Understandable, but here where I live, if there's a marked bike lane, that's where the bikes must ride. If there isn't, then they are allowed to ride in the road.

OK, but aren't there also strict laws regarding staying to the slower lanes to allow faster traffic to pass freely? There certainly are on the Autobahn anyway. Regardless, to me, it's really not about equal rights and taxes or any of that BS, it's just simple courtesy. I would not presume to feel it's ok to hold up traffic (provided I am going slower or they are safely going faster than the speed limit). When driving my car, as well as when I ride a bicycle, if I have the opportunity to yield to faster traffic, then by all means I feel obliged to take it. I see this all the time where people act like they're losing or something if they have to move over. There is no shame in moving over! It's not a contest people . . . It's just courtesy!

(btw, I know full well about the debris and roughness encountered by bikes along the very edge of the road. There's still quite a bit of room to avoid all that without riding two feet off the center divide and making it nearly impossible for cars to overtake them; but then that's often their whole agenda isn't it? )

** end rant **
