Winter Wash with ONR

Just wanted to share some pics after my first car wash this winter. Winter has been pretty brutal, but I finally got around to washing the car this morning for the first time in about 4 months.

I've read a lot on here and other car forums about Optimum No Rinse (ONR) and how it's perfect for winter washing. I bought a bottle a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it a try this morning.

I was skeptical at first, but am very happy with the results. I checked each panel after drying and there weren't any new scratches or swirls that I could see. I took it to a self-serve car wash place first and rinsed a lot of the crap off that was caked on there with the high-pressure spray. Then I brought it home into the garage and went at it with ONR. I used a single bucket with grit guard, a microfiber mitt and a microfiber waffle-weave drying towel.

Nice job! I'm a big believer in ONR myself.

Car looks great! Love the mods too. Just as a suggestion - I'd really recommend a two bucket wash to avoid the swirls. Keep up the good work.

^You use Two buckets, one with a grit guard and water, and one with the no rinse wash. The one with the grit guard is used after cleaning a small section to clean off the mit you are using. Once the mit is clean you dunk in the other bucket with the no rinse wash and clean another section.

Very nice! I love ONR! Unfortunately, no garage at school means no ONR gotta normal wash in the DIY wash.

Thanks guys...I'll use the two bucket method next time I do it...which will probably be soon.

My car stayed clean for all of two days before all this snow started melting and got sprayed with all the wet crap on the highway from the cars around you! Oh well, that means spring is coming soon!

Also, anyone know a good way to get rid of skunk stank? A skunk sprayed around my garage and it reeks...the smell is stuck in the car, especially in the trunk. Think I might try Febreeze in there...

Nice!
I just did mine today as well. It's SOOOO nice to see the actual color of my car again... even if it is temporary.
