A sad day for the G

Hello all,
Due to an unfortunate accident, my G will be getting repainted on Monday. Driving east on the 76, there was an accident in the left lane. About 10 yards after the accident the truck in front of me kicked up a few pieces of aluminum and a bit of tire. The tire hit the side of the bumper (lucky it wasn't big enough to knock it off) and the pieces of aluminum hit the hood and front bumper, in between the headlight and grill, as well as the two front fenders. Luckily I was able to buff out the scratch on the head light but the rest is to deep. The other scratches that were caused by the tire wont show up as well as the ones on the fender. In total it would cost about 1300 to have it repainted . Thank god I have a zero deductible!! On a another note, my name is Logan and new to the forum, this isn't my car yet, it is my fathers, I will be receiving this bad boy when I graduate. My chemical guys packaged arrived yesterday which contained a porter cable and a range of polishes. Being the impulsive person I am, I had to use it, and since it would be in the shop for about a week and will most likely be sitting in the sun most of the time and wanted the paint to be protected, I polished and put a few coats of Jet seal all around except the parts that are getting repainted. To answer some questions, I plasti dipped the rims, door trim, grill, and rear emblems. Only mods that I have done my self is Gen 3 intake, as well as removing the mufflers (which I feel gives the best exhaust sound, and it was relatively cheap.)

Man sucks that that had to happen right before you get it but cool to see you're already deeply takin care of it (like me)...exhaust probably sounds nice but you should go to an exhaust shop that can bend some pipes for your muffler delete... Must look wired with no tips! Welcome to the forum!

My buddy bent me some pipes and welded them on for a low fee. Thanks for the kind words.

Did you keep the stock tips or did you go aftermarket?

If I didn't have a zero deductible then I would have gotten the license plate.

Glad it wasn't any worse. Are you planning on lowering that bad boy?

Just because you have zero deductable doesn't mean your insurance should have to pay for someone elses accident. Always get the other guys information and turn it over to your insurance!

With gary on that one.. you might be happy about the $0 deductible but your premium will only go up because of this mishap

I agree, but it wouldn't help the OP's case.

If this ends up being a comprehensive claim then that is fine, the premiums will not go up, but if ends up being a collision claim, then expect hefty increases in premium.

$1300 in damages isn't a huge expense, compared to the hefty increases in insurance premium will easily go over that in the next couple of years. No matter what, insurance will always make that money back from you. I probably would have paid this damage out of pocket instead of going through insurance as a collision claim.

In Massachusetts, accidents stay on your record for six years! You can expect an insurance premium increase for at least 3-5 years if you're in an accident that is deemed your fault and your insurance has to pay out.
