yea i have some bad curb rash on my OEM 18s... i looked into it and decided that it was more cost efficient for me to pick up an aftermarket set. I paid 500 for a set of 18s. They aren't a a well known brand but hey, it beats having to powdercoat ur stock rims
but if you do decide to powdercoat... i've heard good things about wheels america it hink its called... google em? ahha

noob service questions
hi guys. i have a questions about the regular service [changing oil thing].
how often do you guys change the engine oil? i think there are 2 services, the short one and long one. How often is the short one and the long one? i'm curious about that but i lost my manual book. i put somewhere in my apartment. Infiniti dealer is like far far far away from us, can i do my service at nissan dealer? or any on you have tried jiffy lube or quick lube something like that.

i do mine at the nissan dealer on neil, look for mike he's a cool bloke who'll be more then happy to help. I usually bring my own oil and filter and i change my oil every 3000 miles. Mind you having a turbo usually requires more frequent oil change so if you're NA probably 3500 or 4000 miles and i'm sure you're fine. BTW what oil do you boys use?
do you know what kind service the dealer do for short one. Is it engine oil, changing the oil filter, transmision oil? what else? And what kind of service for the long one? brake n the other stuff ? the Long service is every 7500mile or 15000 mile? sorry too many questions.
i go with mobil1 full synthetic.
wongy, where did you buy your oil n oil filter?
thanks,

You don't have to take it to a stealership to change the oil! Oil changes can be done almost anywhere. It's all the same thing. The only factor here is the service. Do *NOT* go to Jiffy/Speed Lube. Those kids don't know what they're doing! They overtighten my drain plug on my previous car, caused an oil leak, and ruined the oil pan! Take it to a mechanic you trust/know or take it to Sears. The guys there do everything by hand, no power tools. I take mine to Sears. The only downside is that it takes a long time (~ 1 hour for me, bu luckily, the mall is there too :P).
Now I see what you mean by short and long service. You're talking about general maintenance. You can get the manual and from infiniti website:
http://www.infiniti.com/iapps/techpubs
And also the schedule maintenance:
http://www.infiniti.com/ownership/ma...e_landing.html
For those, you can just pick them items you want to to and take it to a mechanic. You don't have to go to Infiniti. Wongy says Nissan does oil changes, but I'm not sure if they will do all the other scheduled maintenance.
I have a local mechanic I really trust:
People's Automotive
209 S 1st St
Champaign, IL 61820
(217) 352-9520
Pat is the guy. If you go there, tell him the guy with the Red Infiniti referred you. ;-)

nissan will do all the scheduled maintenance but you'll have to pay for it as it isn't an actual infiniti dealership, i too have a local mechanic who i like. Peter B off university, really honest guy whose been around for a long time. if you need more technical stuff done then check www.speed-source.net they've done a couple of things for me. Boost controller, front bumper. Their good and they can do virtually anything
